I’m just back from a Hobbit journey to the Shire, and if I could, I’d go again. And again and again!
Who knows, maybe I liked it so much because I felt right at home? I mean, with my 5.2 I’m basically Hobbit size, and being a big fan of both food and fun, I’m sure I’d be the perfect fit for Hobbit land. All I need is a bit more hair on my feet… Guess I have to skip shaving for a couple of weeks ;)
I LOVE The Lord of the Rings, and I’ve seen The Hobbit too (it was pretty much the first thing we did in NZ). And being able to walk among hobbit holes, see all the little hobbit props and hear the behind the scenes stories from the making of the movies, was one big fairytale come true. I only wish the guided tour -you’re not allowed to walk around on your own- lasted a wee bit longer, but aside from that, I can’t recommend Hobbiton enough!
We made our way to Hobbiton with the tour company Bush and Beach (two thumbs up!), but there are other ways to explore Hobbit land too.
As for pictures, let me put it this way: My ’10 photos per day’ rule completely crashed and burned within 5 minutes of entering the Shire. I’ve only shared a handful here, the rest you can see on Facebook.
Let the journey begin!
